Less than 15% of aerospace engineers are women and around 11% are amongst executive ranks in the aerospace industry in the United States.

The aviation industry is one of the worst for gender diversity. The International Air Transport Association has reported that women comprise only 3% of C-level positions within their 290 airlines.

Biases against women tend to limit potential opportunities within their career paths. Aerospace and aviation industries are no exception to this trend. A lack of guidance and support for women entering the field can lead to these great disproportions of representation. If women aren’t seeing women as leaders within fields that interest them, they become less eager about their own career prospects.
